The Wedding Planner

Immediately consult Rooney’s, and decide on a venue and
type of Reception. Rooney’s Special Events Consultants
vast experience will be helpful in all the stages of
planning your wedding.

Our Special Events Consultant can arrange to visit your
chosen venue for the reception and run over all details
on site. At this stage it is advisable to book essential
items such as marquees, tables and chairs.

The finer details (i.e. colours / linen) for your
reception can be discussed later in the planning process.


3 Months Before

  • Select Bridesmaids, Best Man and Groomsmen
  • Choose readings for Ceremony - Give copies of readings to those you’ve asked to do the readings so they will have time to practice
  • Compile Invitation list
  • Order Invitations and Reply Cards
  • If you are writing your own vows, do so now
  • Consult Minister and arrange time and place of Ceremony
  • Inform Rooney’s of further progress with arrangements so that more detail can be put on your order
  • Discuss details of menu and décor with caterer
  • Organise wedding dress, suits etc.
  • Book honeymoon
  • Book photographer


2 Months Before

  • Select wedding rings
  • Arrange wedding cake
  • First fitting for wedding dress
  • Buy guest book
  • Have programs printed
  • If you are going to change name complete proper documents
  • Send wedding announcement to local newspapers
  • Mail Invitations
  • Practice hairstyle with headpiece – schedule with on a day when you have another party so it won’t be a waste


1 Month Before

  • Check on Bar and Catering requirements, keep in touch with Rooney’s and advise them on change of numbers etc.
  • Write thank-you notes as you receive wedding gifts
  • Book hair appointment and facials

Two Weeks before

  • Final fitting of wedding dress and Bridesmaids dresses
  • Obtain marriage licenses
  • Arrange seating plan and write place cards
  • Notify Rooney’s and caterer of final guest count
  • Write speech’s and toasts for wedding reception
  • Break in wedding shoes at home!

One Week Before

  • Final checks on church, flowers, dress’s, caterers.
  • Confirm with Rooney’s final details i.e. delivery times, who will be checking in the order etc.
  • Pack for honeymoon
  • Confirm travel arrangements

One Day Before

  • Finalize seating plan
  • Assign different responsibilities, such as handing out corsages to members of bridal party
  • Confirm limousines or other transportation
  • Give each member of your bridal party her gift along with a personal note
  • Rehearse ceremony
  • Get a good nights rest as Rooney’s has everything under control!


On Your Wedding Day

  • Have a massage in the morning – A massage   will give you time to reflect and relax before the   big event
  • Mail gifts to your parents to thank them for their help and support


Responsibilities

In today’s society, it is generally the Bride and Groom who undertake the planning and responsibilities of the wedding, often delegating certain tasks to close friends and family.

The following check lists should be of use in planning your wedding. Tick off when you are satisfied the various people are aware of their responsibilities and that the necessary arrangements are being made.

Brides Parents

  • arrange printing of invitations
  • send invitations
  • order wedding cake
  • arrange reception
  • hire photographer
  • florist for church and reception
  • contact local newspaper for announcement

Bride

  • choose bridesmaids
  • select dresses for bridesmaids and yourself
  • book hair appointments
  • wedding present lists to be left at various wedding gift shops
  • order flowers for Bride, Bridesmaids and mothers


Bridegroom

  • arrange ceremony
  • choose best man
  • obtain registrars certificates if needed
  • arrange travel plans for honeymoon
  • arrange cars for church
  • prepare speech
  • choose gift for bridesmaids
  • choose wedding ring

Bridesmaids

  • help Bride to dress
  • chief bridesmaid to take charge of                                                               brides bouquet during ceremony.
  • serve portions of cake at the reception

Best Man

  • look after the rings
  • organise the cars from the church
  • prepare speech
